
Interesting video clip here from the KCRA TV program ‘Health Watch’.
While it makes the mistake of confusing two quite different kinds of bloating—the plain old ‘getting fat‘ versus the excess gas kind of bloating we’re plagued with!—it’s worth a viewing.
It covers several important points that you definitely want to take note of if you suffer from stomach bloating:

- Too much salt. The American Medical Association says that Americans eat way too much salt. Excess salt can be the cause of all manner of health problems but it definitely can lead to the big fat belly bloat.
- It’s what you eat. Paying careful attention to what you eat is vitally important. Eat protein based food to make you feel fuller for longer, while avoiding the bloating.
- Sorbitol is evil. Ok, ok, I’ll concede: Sorbitol isn’t evil. However, this sweetener found in ‘low sugar’ foods and drinks does cause major problems with digestion which can lead to IBS, bloating and a whole host of other digestive issues. Avoid.
- Relax! Being stressed forces our bodies to not only deposit fat round our belly areas but also contributes to food remaining undigested, which leads to bloating. Chill out and take it easy!
